(08/05/09) Dahlov Ipcar

Tonight we welcome Dahlov Ipcar as honored guest in our weekly "Lectures in the Library" series. Join us at 7:00 in welcoming our neighbor and enjoy her art work along with a few stories of "her life in Robinhood." Seating is limited.

(07/29/09) Summer at Robinhood

Yachts of every description come to Robinhood for service year round. This week we have a Fleming 55 hauled for routine service, a little 20 center console in for a new GPS, fuel and engine service, and yes that is a "Dragonfly" trimaran, in for final assembly! Can you tell we love boats? And don't forget, tonight in the library, "The Life and Times of the Osprey"...the bird that is.

(07/28/09) This Week (the sun)

It doesn't happen often, but last Friday our band, Tuff Skirts, had to perform in the library instead of outside by the gazebo. Let's hope this Friday we have better luck. Mel and the Clam Flat Five is back for the annual Summerfest picnic.

Wednesday's lecture in the Library is Habits and Habitats of the Osprey (the bird, not the restaurant) presented by Charlie Todd of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Both Charlie and Misty Gorski (Friends of Merrymeeting Bay) will advocate for enhancing coastal fisheries as the best solution for both Ospreys and Eagles and the overall ecosystem health. The discussion begins at 7:00.

(07/21/09) Bonney & Bonney Marine Construction

Bonney & Bonney Marine Construction works towards an overall waterfront clean up project. Just kidding, good sports that they are, dock attendants Devon and Erin are pressed into service, removing some of the general jetsom that regularly floats into Riggs Cove.

And, Wednesday's Lecture at the Library will be Al Trescot of Rocky Hill Design who will take us on a photographic journey down the Damariscotta River with photos from his book "Twelve Miles From the Rest of the World".

And Friday, Tuff Skirts with Rebecca Wing, Liz Matta, Michelle Kingston, Alyson Ciechomski, and Tiffani Pepa perform at the Gazebo from 4:00 to 7:00.

(07/16/09) A History of Outboards

A small but enthusiactic group joined us Wednesday night for our first "Lectures in the Library" for 2009. David Lake, RMC's lead rigger and boatbuilder gave a history of the development of the outboard motor before sharing a great sampling of his collection, and answering a host of questions. Thanks David.
